DESCRIPTION:Mattituck-Laurel Library will host “Dimensional Stratagems\,” an art show of acrylic paintings on wood by James Pritchard\, on view July 1 to July 31 in the library’s art gallery. \nThe artist uses traditional painting techniques including color\, tone\, value and perspective to create the illusion of three-dimensional objects on flat surfaces. The works balance hard-edge panel lines with hand-painted textures and patterns\, and draw on color influences from Pritchard’s childhood in California and the Caribbean\, along with the seasonal palette of the North Fork. \nA public reception will be held Friday\, July 3\, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the library’s art gallery.

DESCRIPTION:North Fork Arts Center will host an improv comedy workshop for students ages 11 to 15\, taught by screenwriter\, comedian and arts educator Katy Berry. \nThe weeklong class runs Monday\, July 6\, to Friday\, July 10\, and introduces the fundamentals of improv through games and exercises focused on yes-and\, world building\, truth in comedy\, listening and trusting instincts. No prior acting experience is required. \nThe workshop is limited to 16 students. Participants should bring their own snacks and drinks. \nThe program concludes with a live class show for friends and family on Saturday\, July 11\, at 10 a.m. Scholarships are available by request.
