41st Annual Hallockville Country Fair

Come one, come all to the 41st annual Hallockville Country Fair on Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.!

The fair is a cultural experience to celebrate Long Island’s agricultural heritage. The event includes traditional crafts and games, folk art demonstrations, a petting zoo, pony rides, wagon rides, musical performances, art and crafts vendors, farm livestock and more.

The event will also feature the second annual jam and honey contest.

“If folks say you make the tastiest beach plum jam or your bees produce the best honey – put it to the test,” said Hallockville Museum Farm Executive Director Roberta Shoten. “The Hallockville Country Fair is the perfect place for a friendly food competition and the winners get bragging rights for a full year!”

First, second and third place winners will be named for each category and will receive ribbons, medals and bragging rights.

Jam and jelly entries must be made by the contestants on Long Island of their own preserves. Honey entries are open to individuals who own or manage their hives on Long Island.

Contestants must submit two, four-ounce unlabeled jars for each entry into the competitions, completed entry forms and a $10 fee per entry. Entries must be dropped off in-person at the Hallockville Museum Farm office — 6038 Sound Ave. in Riverhead — between Aug. 22 and Sept. 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Entry forms and a list of complete rules can be found on the museum farm website.
