Book and Bottle Lecture hosted by Suffolk County Historical Society Museum

The Suffolk County Historical Society will host a Book and Bottle Lecture featuring “Cold War Long Island” by Karl Grossman and Christopher Verga on Saturday, July 16 at 1 p.m.

The event will feature a discussion by the authors concerning the activities on Long Island during the Cold War. This includes the establishment of bases for nuclear tipped missiles in Rocky Point and Westhampton, Plum Island Animal Disease Center being proposed as a research site for the use biological warfare, the role of Brookhaven National Lab and the Soviet spy rings on Long Island.

The event will include light refreshments, a book sale and author signing. For members of the historical society the event is free but for non-members it is $8. To reserve a spot, call (631)727-2991 ext. 100.
