SUMMARY:Holidays at Hallockville Open House
DESCRIPTION:The Hallockville Museum Farm invites the community to step back in time and celebrate the holiday season at the ‘Holidays at Hallockville’ open house on Sunday\, Dec. 7\, from noon to 3 p.m. This old-fashioned holiday event will feature: \n– Tours of the historic Hallock Homestead\, decorated for a Victorian Christmas\, led by costumed docents. Learn why Christmas celebrations were banned by early East End settlers and how they eventually came to the North Fork as a secular celebration.\n– The Cichanowicz Farmhouse\, where docents will recreate a Polish Christmas Eve celebration from the 1930s.\n– The Hudson-Sydlowski House\, which will welcome visitors for holiday shopping at the Museum Store featuring exclusively handcrafted items.\n– Family friendly art projects based on Richard Wines’ book\, ‘A Farm Family on Long Island North Fork’ at the Farming Family exhibit.\n– A charming toy exhibit at the Trubisz House.\n– Strolling carolers\, children’s activities\, a puppet workshop by Goat on the Boat\, photo opportunities and refreshments. \nAdmission to ‘Holidays at Hallockville’ is free. The event is sponsored in part by Suffolk County.
