DESCRIPTION:The Mattituck-Laurel Library will be hosting an art show titled “Look Up” featuring the photography of Jean Schweibish. The show will be on view throughout the month of September during regular library hours. An opening reception will be held on Sunday\, Sept. 7\, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. \nJean Schweibish has been a photographer for over 40 years\, with a particular interest in the natural world and its opposite: the man-made one. Her inspiration often comes from what hovers above a landscape or a structure. Clouds\, in their many forms\, sizes\, and gradations appeal to her inner child – the one who looked up and observed the clouds scudding by above\, shape-shifting into faces or animals. As an adult\, she became more interactive with looking up. Camera in hand\, she was inevitably drawn to images that invited a visual conversation between terra firma and the celestial sphere. \nThe event is free to attend and open to the public.
