SUMMARY:NFAC: Writing Workshop Series with Mira Johnson
DESCRIPTION:The North Fork Arts Center (NFAC) is hosting a series of writing workshops led by Mira Johnson\, a 2018 BookEnds fellow and accomplished writer. The workshops are scheduled for five Saturdays: Oct. 4\, 11\, 18\, 25\, and Nov. 1\, 2025\, from 10 a.m. to noon. The series is designed for writers of all levels and genres\, offering an opportunity to experiment with writing techniques and receive constructive feedback within a supportive community. \nThe course covers various aspects of writing\, including description\, imagery\, character development\, voice\, and narrative arc. Participants will engage in in-class writing prompts\, guided discussions\, and analysis of published mentor texts. The aim is to create a nurturing environment focused on revision and growth. Note that the class is limited to 12 students and attendees must be able to participate in all workshops. \nMira Johnson is currently working on a novel exploring the aftermath of a school shooting on a married couple who are both teachers. Her work has been published in various literary journals and she has received residencies at several prestigious institutions. She also teaches creative writing at Stony Brook University and runs the Jeanette Sarkisian Wagner Writing Workshop in Sag Harbor. \nThe cost of the workshop series is $200 per student. For more information\, visit the NFAC website.
