DESCRIPTION:“POETRY STREET: the room without a roof where every voice is heard” will take place from\n2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday\, July 26 in person at Riverhead Free Library and by Zoom. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82706480446 \nHosted by Chip Williford & Maggie Bloomfield \nPoetry Street this month’s features Linda Dickman\, David Dickman and Marsha Nelson\, followed by an open mic. \nRiverhead Free Library is located at 330 Court Street in Riverhead \nThe reading will be recorded and available on the Poetry Street website:\nwww.poetrystreetontheroad.com \nLinda Trott Dickman is an award winning poet\, author of five chapbooks\, a book of poetry prompts\, Catching the Light- Poetry Prompts for Children of All Ages. Her work is nationally and internationally anthologized. Linda was instrumental in establishing the Poetry Path in Northport Village Park\, She is the coordinator of poetry for the Northport Arts Coalition\, teaches at the Walt Whitman Birthplace\, Northport Historical Society and at Samantha’s Li’l Bit O’ Heaven. Linda was a New York State Woman of Distinction (Education) in 2023 \nDavid Dickman was born and raised on Long Island’s Gold Coast\, sans gold. He resides with his wife\, Linda\, in her childhood home. David has been writing poetry for over 55 years. This is his almost first reading and we are pleased that he is with us at Poetry Street. \nMarsha Nelson is an award-winning poet\, playwright\, and screenwriter. Born in Trinidad\, she moved to the U.S. at age 13. She has authored two poetry books\, Night Visions\, and All Rise-Stand Up Holy Gates. Her poem\, “I Thought it was Love\,” won first place in the 2016 Nassau County Poet Laureate Society contest.
