SUMMARY:Poetry Street: Live and Zoom Poetry Reading at Riverhead Free Library
DESCRIPTION:A blend of established and emerging poets will take the stage at the Riverhead Free Library on Saturday\, Oct. 26\, 2024. From 2 to 4 p.m. (EDT)\, the event will feature live readings and an open mic session\, providing a platform for every voice to be heard. The event will be hosted by Chip Williford and Maggie Bloomfield.  \nThe featured poets include: \n– Tammy Nuzzo-Morgan: Founder and president of the Long Island Poetry & Literature Repository\, publisher of The North Sea Poetry Scene Press\, and editor of Long Island Sounds and other anthologies. Nuzzo-Morgan has written six chapbooks\, a memoir\, a children’s book\, and two full-length poetry books. She was the first woman Suffolk County Poet Laureate (2009-2011) and teaches at the C W Post campus of LIU. \n– Richard Bronson: A faculty member at the Center for Medical Humanities\, Compassionate Care & Bioethics of the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. Bronson is a member of the boards of the Walt Whitman Birthplace and the Long Island Poetry Collective and served as Suffolk County Poet Laureate from 2021 to 2023. \n– Pastor Montez Johnson: An assistant pastor at Riverhead’s First Baptist Church\, in charge of outreach. Johnson works extensively and counsels in Riverhead and Yaphank. He loves to write poetry and hopes to write a play. This is his first time featuring at Poetry Street. \nThe event will be conducted both live and on Zoom simultaneously. Donations are welcomed through Venmo. The reading will be recorded and made available on the event’s website.
