Seventh annual Wo/Men Empower Wo/Men Event hosted by Butterfly Effect Project

The seventh annual Wo/Men Empower Wo/Men Event hosted by the Butterfly Effect Project will be held on Sunday, May 22 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Riverhead Moose Lodge — doors open at 1:30 p.m.

The event honors the unsung heroes in the Riverhead community and recognizes the programs and participants at BEP. The event will feature a presentation of awards, guest speakers, performances by the butterflies, catered buffet, an auction and more.

Awards will be given to the honorees: founding President and Co-Chair of the African American Educational and Cultural Festival Inc. Marilyn Banks-Winter, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for Riverhead Central School District Christine Tona, President of STOP THE VIOLENCE Dwayne Eleazer and Riverhead High School student and butterfly Azharia Allen.

The event cost $40 for adults, $20 for children aged six through 17 and $10 for butterflies and children aged five or below. To purchase tickets, visit the Butterfly Effect Project’s website.
