DESCRIPTION:Riverhead’s Anti-Litter Committee is seeking volunteers for a town-wide cleanup day on Saturday\, April 25. \nParticipants are asked to check in at Riverhead Town Hall\, 4 West Second Street\, between 9 and 11 a.m. Volunteers may register individually or as a team by emailing jrizzohcs@optonline.net. \nOrganizers ask participants to complete a waiver form and bring it with them on the day of the event. Gloves\, bags and litter pickers can be provided\, and walk-ins are also welcome. \nStudents may request two community service credits for participating. \nThe cleanup effort is aimed at helping beautify the town and reduce litter in the community.

SUMMARY:Riverhead Town's household hazard waste disposal and medication take-back event
DESCRIPTION:Riverhead residents can safely dispose of household hazardous wastes and unwanted prescription medications free of charge at the town’s semi-annual STOP (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) Day Saturday\, Oct. 26\, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Riverhead Highway Department facility on Osborn Avenue.\n\n \n\nThe STOP program allows for the proper disposal of residential household hazardous waste\, such as: lead-based paints\, stains and varnishes\, adhesives\, paint thinners\, refrigerants\, antifreeze\, brake and other auto fluids\, fluorescent bulbs\, batteries\, aerosols\, kerosene\, mercury\, photo chemicals\, fungicides\, herbicides\, pesticides\, and e-waste (e.g. computers\, printers\, cell phones\, pagers and VCRs). Large/small appliances\, explosives\, medical waste and commercial/industrial waste are prohibited.\n\n \n\nClick here for details.\n\n \n\nIn conjunction with STOP Day\, the Riverhead CAP’s Community Coalition for Safe and Drug-Free Youth will hold a ‘Medication Take-Back’ at the same location. This program helps in the proper disposal of medications and is open to non-residents as well as town residents. DESCRIPTION:The Rotary Club of Riverhead is inviting community members to participate in a Day of Service on May 18\, 2024. The event\, titled ‘Rotary Day of Service’\, will focus on cleaning up the area around and within the Peconic River. This is a great opportunity for individuals and community groups to contribute to the betterment of their surroundings. It’s also an excellent chance for students looking for volunteer hours. \nThe cleanup will start at 8 a.m. and continue until noon. The meeting point is at the flagpole in downtown Peconic River Front. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided to all volunteers. \nThis event is free to attend.
