There will also be opportunities for pictures with Santa himself.  \nAll proceeds from the Pancake Breakfast will be used to purchase gifts for children in the school community. Donation boxes will be placed at various locations in Riverhead including the Town Hall Lobby\, Glenwood Recreation Center\, Flanders Senior Center\, and the Post 2476 on Parkway St. The community is encouraged to donate items such as toiletries\, socks\, shirts\, undergarments\, hats\, gloves\, sweatshirts\, and pants for both men and women. If you don’t have time to shop\, you can stop by the VFW and leave a cash donation\, and the auxiliary will do the shopping for you. This is a great opportunity to show our veterans what their sacrifice means to us. Last year\, the event managed to donate over $3\,500 in items to the veterans in Northport and locally.

DESCRIPTION:The Peconic River Sportsman’s Club is all set to host its 11th Annual ‘Take a Shot at Cancer’ fundraiser on Sunday\, Sept. 7. The event\, which has been a popular fixture for the last decade\, has raised over $300\,000 for the benefit of local cancer organizations. \nThe day begins with an opening ceremony at 8 a.m.\, followed by squadding at 8:15 a.m. The shoot starts at 9 a.m. The entry fee of $225 covers 100 sporting clays and 100 12-gauge shells\, but participants are required to bring their own shotguns. The club also provides a light breakfast\, snacks\, and a steak and chicken BBQ lunch followed by dessert. Non-shooters can enjoy lunch for $30. \nA limited number of four-seat golf carts can be rented for $100 each. The day’s activities also include auctions\, raffles and a 50/50 drawing. Last year\, the club donated a total of $54\,000 to three local breast cancer charities: Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition\, Lucia’s Angels and North Fork Breast Health Coalition. \nRegistration and payment can be made on www.ScoreChaser.com. Checks are traditionally distributed during a December holiday party at the historic PRSC clubhouse. This event is open to the public.

The event will kick off at 1 p.m. at Twin Fork Beer Co. and will wrap up at Ubergeek Brewery at 6 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to visit five local breweries\, including: \n– Twin Fork Beer Co. at 1 p.m.\n– Long Ireland Beer Co. at 2 p.m.\n– Tradewinds Brewing at 3 p.m.\n– North Fork Brewing at 4 p.m.\n– Ubergeek Brewery at 5 p.m. \nThe cost of participation is $45 per person if paid in advance\, or $50 at the door. The fee includes an event T-shirt\, discounts at each brewery\, and a chance to win raffle prizes. All proceeds from the crawl will go towards supporting the rescue and rehabilitation of Long Island’s sea turtles. Currently\, NYMRC is caring for five sea turtles at its facility and is preparing for the 2024 to 2025 cold stun season.
