SUMMARY:Andrew’s Top Gun Run 5K and Fun Run at EPCAL Park
DESCRIPTION:The Suffolk County Council of Scouting America and the Andrew McMorris Foundation will host the fifth annual Andrew’s Top Gun Run at EPCAL Park in Calverton\, with participants running or walking on the runway. \nThe event raises funds for scholarships and scouterships in Andrew McMorris’ memory. In September 2018\, members of Boy Scout Troop 161 were struck by a drunk driver while hiking the Greenbelt Trail; several scouts were severely injured\, and 12-year-old Andrew McMorris died from his injuries. \nOn-site registration opens at 7:30 a.m. The fun run\, open to children 12 and under\, starts at 8:30 a.m. The 5K starts at 9 a.m. Jogging strollers are welcome. The 5K is chip-timed\, and refreshments will be available for finishers. \nAwards will be given to the top three male and female finishers overall\, and to the top three male and female finishers in age groups from 1 to 10 through 85-plus. Results will be posted online after the race. \nPre-registration packet pickup is scheduled for Friday\, March 27\, from 5 to 7 p.m. on the runway.

DESCRIPTION:The North Fork Breast Health Coalition is hosting its 27th Anniversary ‘5K Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness’ on Sunday\, Sept. 28 at Tanger Riverhead. The walk is a fundraiser to support the free services the coalition offers to breast cancer patients and their Lend A Helping Hand grant program. Here’s what you need to know: \n– Participants can pre-register through the NFBHC website or register from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. on the day of the event.\n– The walk begins at 9 a.m. and ends by 11 a.m.\n– The registration fee is $30 if paid by Sept. 20 and $35 if paid after that date or on the day of the event.\n– The first 300 entrants will receive a gift bag.\n– Walkers are encouraged to gather pledges of support from friends\, family\, and colleagues. Top fundraising awards will be given in the following categories: Young Adult (ages 13 to 19)\, Adult\, Breast Cancer Survivor\, and Business/Team.\n– Team captains must register team members\, send in names and registration fees by Sept. 20\, and submit pledge money on the morning of the event.\n– From 7:30 to 8:45 a.m.\, registrants can enjoy breakfast that includes coffee\, tea\, and juice with muffins\, granola bars\, and fruit. DESCRIPTION:The Riverhead Athletic Club is hosting a Kid’s Fun Run on Saturday\, June 21. The event aims to get kids moving and introduce them to various sports and the stars of Riverhead High School athletics. The run will start at 8 a.m.\, with participants released in waves of 10. \nThe event is open to all ages\, with a special focus on children entering pre-K through eighth grade. However\, children under 12 must have a parent or guardian with them for the entirety of the run. SUMMARY:North Fork Breast Health Coalition hosts 5K walk
DESCRIPTION:The North Fork Breast Health Coalition will hold its 26th Anniversary “5K Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness” on Sunday\, Sept. 22 at Tanger Outlets in Riverhead.  \nThe walk steps off at 9 a.m.   \nParticipants can pre-register on the NFBHC website or register on the day of the event from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m.   \nThe registration fee to participate in the 5K Walk is $30 if paid by Sept. 16 and $35 if paid after that date\, including on the day of the event. The first 300 entrants will receive a gift bag. \nWalkers are encouraged to gather pledges of support from friends\, family and colleagues. Top fundraising awards will be given in the following categories: Young Adult (ages 13-19 years old)\, Adult\, Breast Cancer Survivor and Business/Team. Team captains must register team members\, send in names and registration fees by Sept. 16\, and submit pledge money on the morning of the event. \nNFBHC is an all-volunteer\, non-profit organization that supports local breast-cancer patients with programs such as “Helping Hand” grants and free services for patients and survivors\, including gentle yoga\, massage therapy\, reflexology and “Strength for Life” exercise\, as well as access to the Rita Duva Boutique\, which offers wigs\, scarves\, hats and prosthetics.
