Additional workshops include an introduction to weaving with the Paumanok Weavers\, a flat needle-felted farm landscape workshop with Shamma Murphy\, and basket weaving with Barbara Blossey-Chuvalas using natural materials\, including silk\, seagrass and wool. Advance registration is required for workshops. \nFamily activities include a children’s craft area\, agricultural displays and opportunities to meet the farm’s animals. Visitors are invited to bring their own fiber arts projects to work on during the day. Live music will be provided by the Old Time Jam\, with local food vendors on-site and a bake sale hosted by Hallockville Bakers.

SUMMARY:NYS safe boating certification course at Riverhead Free Library
DESCRIPTION:Riverhead Free Library will host a one-day New York State safe boating certification course sponsored by Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio and offered by Safe Boating America. \nPre-registration is required\, and seating is limited. Participants must be at least 10 years old. The course fee is $70 with the library discount. \nThe class meets New York State and U.S. Coast Guard requirements for personal watercraft operation and youth and adult boating certification. Topics include boat operation\, navigation\, rules of the road\, equipment\, accidents and emergencies\, fueling and ventilation\, safe loading and powering\, personal watercraft\, and numbering and registration. \nA course book will be provided at check-in. Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate the same day. A temporary certification valid for 90 days will be issued. Adults age 18 and older must mail a $10 fee to New York State within the 90-day period to receive a permanent certification card. The $10 state fee is waived for ages 10 to 17. \nTo register\, sign up through Safe Boating America and apply promo code RIVERHEADLIBRARY at checkout to receive the discount. Registrations are nonrefundable\, and discounts cannot be applied after registration.
