The book follows a 15-year inquiry involving DNA scientists\, archaeologists\, genealogists and Jefferson and Hemings descendants. \nTwo descendants featured in the book\, including one who lives in Greenport\, will join Kurin on stage in conversation with book collaborator and Coming to the Table co-founder Liz Welch. Burton’s Books will be on-site selling copies\, and Kurin will sign books following the program. \nFree admission is available for ages 25 and under. DESCRIPTION:The Riverhead Free Library will host the P.E.A.C.E. Project\, a juried fine art photography exhibition and competition. The 2026 theme is “The Mind’s Eye\,” focused on previsualizing an image before capturing it through the camera lens. \nPhotographers of all skill levels were invited to submit up to three images across six genres: landscape\, nature and wildlife\, people and portrait\, black and white\, abstract and manipulation\, and man-made architecture. Works are selected through a blind jury process\, with each photograph judged on the merits of the image. \nAn awards ceremony will recognize four winners: grand prize\, first prize\, second prize and third prize.
