SUMMARY:Riverhead Railroad Festival
DESCRIPTION:See exhibits and working machines of the “Long Island Antique Power Association.”  Ride the restored 1964-1965 LIRR World’s Fair park train.  Visit the Historic Lionel Layout.  Try your hand at the locomotive races and switching puzzle. Visit railroad preservation groups and historical societies.  View and purchase items from railroad related vendors and visit the Museum Gift Shop.  See operating toy train layouts in “G” scale\, “O” scale\, “HO” scale\, “N” and “Z” scale.   Tour historic LIRR railcars and locomotives.  Refreshments will be available.  Live music by The Brisket Brothers! \nRide the LIRR “Scoot” and visit the Railroad Museum of Long Island in Greenport. Train departs both days at 10:10 a.m. and returns to Riverhead by 12:30 p.m. “Scoot” tickets are purchased separately onboard the train from the LIRR conductor. Admission to the Riverhead Railroad Festival includes admission to the Greenport museum on the same day. \nThe festival takes place Aug. 24 and 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. \nAdmission: $15 for adults\, $8 for children (Children under 5 are free.) \n

DESCRIPTION:Suffolk Theater is excited to welcome back The Lords of 52nd Street on Saturday\, Aug. 24\, 2024\, at 8 p.m. Known for their authentic renditions of Billy Joel’s greatest hits\, the band promises an evening of nostalgia and top-notch entertainment. \nThe Lords of 52nd Street comprises legendary musicians who contributed to Billy Joel’s classic albums and helped establish his unique sound. Despite band member Richie Cannata’s absence due to health issues\, Liberty DeVitto and Russell Javors will carry on with the show. \nTheir journey began with Billy Joel’s album ‘Turnstiles’\, which catapulted them from local college gigs to performing at Madison Square Garden. They went on to record several successful albums\, including ‘The Stranger’ with its diamond certification and No. 1 singles such as ‘Only The Good Die Young’ and ‘Just The Way You Are’. \nAfter a 30-year separation\, the band reunited following their induction into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2014.
