DESCRIPTION:Hallockville Museum Farm\, in collaboration with Farm Hands educational programs\, presents Spring Saturdays on the Farm\, a series of activity-based workshops for children. These sessions offer hands-on play and crafting based on East End agricultural\, natural and cultural history themes. The workshops will be led by Jessica De Vera Wells\, the head teacher at Farm Hands and a North Fork farming native. \nThe schedule for Spring Saturdays on the Farm is as follows: \n* Barn Architecture – Saturday\, April 13 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.\n* Native Trees – Saturday\, May 11 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.\n* Old Time Farm Equipment – Saturday\, June 1 from 10 a.m. to noon\n* Plants that Heal – Saturday\, June 22 from 10 a.m. to noon \nThese children’s programs will run concurrently with similarly-themed guided walking tours for adults. The sessions cost $30 per child\, per session\, with a $5 discount for siblings. Advance registration is required. \nIn addition\, historic walking tours for adults are available. These are free for Hallockville members and $10 for the general public. Registration for these tours is also required.

The tour will explore the evolution of barn architecture to meet the changing needs of North Fork farmers. \n– Native Trees of the East End: On Saturday\, May 11\, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.\, retired federal park ranger and naturalist Mary Laura Lamont will guide participants through an examination of tree buds\, fruits\, barks\, and leaves. The tour will also include a hands-on inspection of wood samples and an exploration of how specific woods have been used by people through the ages. \n– Historical Farm Equipment: On Saturday\, June 1\, from 10 a.m. to noon\, agricultural expert Dale Moyer and historian Richard Wines will lead a tour of the Hallockville grounds and barns. The tour will focus on the role of mechanization in the modernization of farming methods. \n– Plants are Good Medicine: On Saturday\, June 22\, from 10 a.m. to noon\, certified nutritional counselor\, hobby farmer\, and homesteader Toni Caste will guide participants through an exploration of plants with beneficial\, medicinal uses. \nAdmission to the walking tours is free for Hallockville members and $10 for the general public. SUMMARY:6th Annual Blast for CAST at Stirling Square
DESCRIPTION:The Center for Advocacy\, Support & Transformation (CAST) is hosting its 6th Annual Blast for CAST on July 11. This celebration of summer is taking place at Stirling Square\, located at 300 Main Street in Greenport. The event\, sponsored by Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital\, will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Attendees can expect an open bar and a variety of hors d’oeuvres\, courtesy of the American Beech Hotel. Additionally\, 1943 Pizza Bar and Greenport Harbor Brewing Company will be providing pizza and beer.  \nThe event will feature live music from the dynamic band NOIZ\, known for their R&B\, Pop\, Dance and Hip Hop hits. A signature cocktail\, Berry Blast for CAST\, will be served by American Beech.  \nThe event also includes a silent auction with exciting items up for bid\, such as VIP tickets to the Hamptons Classic Horse Show\, golf for four at Gardiner’s Bay Country Club\, and a private at-home dinner prepared by Chef Ryan Carroll. Other experiences on offer range from wine tastings and spa treatments across North Fork and Shelter Island to boat cruises.  \nThis year\, CAST will honor Andy Tarshis with the annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors Award. Donations can be made in Andy’s honor at the event or online. Proceeds from the event will go towards CAST’s essential programs and services for nearly 1\,500 North Fork and Shelter Island families. Her repertoire includes a stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” and a sweetly intimate version of “Send in the Clowns\,” a ballad written by Stephen Sondheim. The latter won ‘Song of the Year’ at the 1975 Grammy Awards.  \nCollins started her impressive music career at 13 as a piano prodigy and later became a key figure within the Greenwich Village folk community. She has remained a vital artist\, enriching her catalog with critically acclaimed albums while balancing a robust touring schedule.
