The Riverhead Cardboard Boat Race returns to the Peconic Riverfront with teams racing homemade cardboard boats across the Peconic River. The free event also includes a Family Fun Zone, vendor marketplace, kids’ games, food and entertainment, with the race start scheduled for 11 a.m.
The Mattituck-Laurel Library presents “WATERWORKS: Splashes of Color,” watercolor paintings by Lois Levy, on view throughout August during regular library hours. An opening reception will be held Friday, Aug. 7, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Mattituck-Laurel Library will host a six-hour defensive driving course sponsored by the American Safety Institute. The NYSDMV-approved class offers an insurance discount for three years and a four-point reduction on a driving record upon completion.
