DESCRIPTION:The Southold Historical Museum is hosting an online art exhibition and sale\, Ten Squared: The Natural World Around Us\, from Nov. 15 to Dec. 15\, 2024. This non-juried exhibition invites artists to submit pieces that are 10″ x 10″. Each work will be sold for $100\, half of which will benefit the museum. \nThe exhibit’s theme\, The Natural World Around Us\, is inspired by the changing seasons and landscape of Southold. Artists are encouraged to submit up to three works\, and all mediums are accepted. The variety of motifs and the non-juried nature of the exhibit ensure a diverse collection of artwork. \nThe 10 x 10 artwork is a perfect holiday gift. DESCRIPTION:The Southold Historical Museum is hosting its annual Candlelight Tour and Tree Lighting on Friday\, Nov. 29\, 2024\, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Maple Lane Complex. This event is a cherished tradition in the Southold community\, marking the start of the holiday season with old-fashioned fun.  \nHighlights of the tour include: \n– A visit with Santa in the barn\, set against the backdrop of a beautiful Christmas tree.\n– Tours of historic houses\, including the 18th-century Thomas Moore House and the late-Victorian Ann Currie-Bell House. The latter will feature a Christmas village and live music.\n– Demonstrations of traditional crafts such as carpentry\, blacksmithing\, fiber arts\, basket weaving\, and print shop techniques.\n– Children’s games on the lawn and hot chocolate to warm up while strolling the grounds. \nThe museum Christmas tree will be lit at 5 p.m. Admission is free\, but donations are accepted.
