SUMMARY:Greenport Repair Cafe by North Fork Environmental Council
DESCRIPTION:The North Fork Environmental Council is hosting the Greenport Repair Cafe on May 4\, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event encourages people to repair their broken items rather than throwing them away\, promoting a shift from a resource-wasting linear economy to a more sustainable circular economy. Here’s what you can expect: \n– The event will be held at the Greenport Library. Attendees are encouraged to bring a couple of their broken items.\n– Volunteers will be available to help with simple bike repairs\, textiles/clothing\, and jewelry repairs. More volunteers are still needed for other categories\, general help\, Spanish translation\, and coffee break snacks.\n– The event is part of a growing worldwide movement focusing on repairing and the Right to Repair. The Repair Cafe International Foundation is collecting data from all the Repair Cafes through a Repair Monitor Dashboard. This data is being used by communities and countries as evidence to their legislators to institute ‘Right to Repair’ policies.\n– The webinar from the International Repair Cafe Symposium held on Jan. 2\, 2024\, can be viewed on YouTube. Find it on www.repaircafe.org. \nThe event is free to attend. For more information or to volunteer\, please email Margaret at Margaret@nfec1.org.
