This community event is organized by Mark MK McLaughlin in collaboration with Riverhead PAL\, Riverhead Recreation Department\, and Riverhead Lions Club. The aim of the event is to unite the Riverhead community in support of local pantries and families in need. The event combines sports\, service\, and solidarity to fight hunger together. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods for the food drive. The event is free to attend and promises to be a fun-filled day with a halftime show and games. The event is sponsored by Super Bowl Champion Gary Brown from News12.

The Riverhead Recreation Department will host its Leprechaun Fun-Run on Saturday\, March 15. \nRun\, walk\, or jig the one-mile course from Miamogue Point to the George Young Community Center. This is a family friendly event\, dogs and strollers  are welcome. The run starts 9 a.m.  \nRegistration is $15. Check-in and onsite registration (cash only) begins at 8:30 at Miamogue Park.  Early registration is encouraged. Register online here. The first 50 registrants receive a t-shirt.  \nEnjoy a light breakfast after the run at the community center.

DESCRIPTION:Time to trot\, or walk or run — whatever makes you happy!  Join the Riverhead Recreation Department for the annual one-mile Turkey Trot up South Jamesport Avenue from Miamogue Beach to the George Young Community Center on Saturday\, Nov. 23.  \nParking is available at either the start or finish\, it just depends on whether you need a warm-up or a cool-down.  A carb-based breakfast will be served afterwards\, a winner in the kids and adults’ categories will be crowned\, and gobble-tastic trophies will be awarded to the winners.  \nCheck-in for preregistered runners begins at 8:30 a.m. at the starting line.  Registration is also available on-site on the day of the event\, cash only.  The first 50 registrants will get a free t-shirt.

Participants are encouraged to bring canned goods to join in the game\, addressing local food insecurity and promoting fitness\, teamwork\, and civic engagement. \nThe event aims to help local food pantries and residents in need right in time for Thanksgiving\, showcasing Riverhead’s commitment to community solidarity\, hunger relief\, and youth empowerment. The event is supported by local figures and organizations such as Mark MK McLaughlin\, Riverhead ABTF\, Riverhead Recreation Department\, Riverhead PAL\, State Farm\, and the Riverhead Rotary Club. \nThe Riverhead Rotary Club\, joined by local pantries\, will collect and distribute the donated canned goods and non-perishable items. This is strictly a community event\, and participation is free.
