DESCRIPTION:The Memorial Day parade and ceremonies at several monuments around Downtown Riverhead will take place on Memorial Day\, Monday\, May 27. \nThe parade steps off at 9 a.m. on Osborn Avenue and continues to the World War I monument on the corner of Court and West Main streets\, where the first ceremony is held. From there\, participants proceed east on Main Street to East Avenue\, and then north to St. John’s Cemetery\, for a wreath-laying ceremony. Services and ceremonies follow at the Civil War monument in Riverhead Cemetery and at the War Memorial Monument at the Pulaski Street School.

DESCRIPTION:Each Memorial Day Weekend\, East End Arts unleashes the creativity of the neighborhood and brings the community together for the Mosaic Street Painting Festival. \nThis family-focused event was inspired by the street artists of Grazie di Curtatone\, Italy who gather each year for the Incontro Nazionale dei Madonnari where the streets of the village are converted into works of art in chalk. \nThe free street festival offers the chance to watch chalk artists create their masterpieces on the Main Street. Other attractions include: live music\, drum circle\, theater and dance performances\, interactive art\, kids zone\, craft and artisan vendors\, food trucks and local restaurants. \nTo register for a square\, visit the East End Arts website. 4’x6′ $25 in advance. $30 day of event. Each square comes with a box of chalk. \nSunday\, May 26th\, 2024 from 12 to 5 p.m. on Main Street in Riverhead.

SUMMARY:Peconic Riverfront cleanup: Rotary Day of Service
DESCRIPTION:The Rotary Club of Riverhead is inviting community members to participate in a Day of Service on May 18\, 2024. The event\, titled ‘Rotary Day of Service’\, will focus on cleaning up the area around and within the Peconic River. This is a great opportunity for individuals and community groups to contribute to the betterment of their surroundings. It’s also an excellent chance for students looking for volunteer hours. \nThe cleanup will start at 8 a.m. and continue until noon. The meeting point is at the flagpole in downtown Peconic River Front. Gloves and garbage bags will be provided to all volunteers. \nThis event is free to attend. However\, participants are encouraged to register in advance at the Riverhead Rotary Club’s website. For those who own kayaks\, they are welcome to bring them along and help clean up debris in the river. \nJoin the Rotary Club of Riverhead in this community service initiative and help make a difference in your community.
