Additional workshops include an introduction to weaving with the Paumanok Weavers\, a flat needle-felted farm landscape workshop with Shamma Murphy\, and basket weaving with Barbara Blossey-Chuvalas using natural materials\, including silk\, seagrass and wool. Advance registration is required for workshops. \nFamily activities include a children’s craft area\, agricultural displays and opportunities to meet the farm’s animals. Visitors are invited to bring their own fiber arts projects to work on during the day. Live music will be provided by the Old Time Jam\, with local food vendors on-site and a bake sale hosted by Hallockville Bakers.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for an enlightening presentation\, “The Natural Secrets of Long Island” with naturalist John Turner. This event is a review of the plants\, animals\, and natural landscapes that make Long Island the special place it is. John Turner\, a seasoned environmental educator and advocate\, has nearly 50 years of experience in the field. He has given hundreds of talks and programs and led nature walks on a wide range of natural history and environmental topics for many organizations. \nTurner has written articles that have appeared in numerous newsletters and magazines including Defenders\, Birder’s World\, Long Island Forum\, Bird Watcher’s Digest\, Networking Magazine\, and The Conservationist. He is the author of a popular Long Island nature guide “Exploring the Other Island: A Seasonal Nature Guide to Long Island” (2nd Edition). \nTurner was co-founder of the Long Island Pine Barrens Society\, a group whose mission is to promote education\, to advocate for the protection of Long Island’s drinking water and to preserve open spaces especially in the Pine Barrens. Turner currently works as a senior policy advisor. \nThe presentation will take place on Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the Naugles Barn. While the event is free\, registration is requested.

Participants will also enjoy a small bowl of beef stew served with hearty bread\, replicating the meals that would have been served on the farm generations ago. \nThe cost to attend the workshop is $40 for members and $45 for non-members. DESCRIPTION:The Eastern Long Island Quilters Guild is hosting an exhibit and yard sale on Sept. 13 and 14 at the Hallockville Museum Farm. The event will feature 100 works of fabric art\, a fabric and craft yard sale\, and a quilt raffle to benefit the guild. Raffle baskets will also be available\, with proceeds going to the Paige Keely Foundation. Tickets for the quilt raffle can be purchased in advance by emailing the guild. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. Admission is $5.
