DESCRIPTION:Southold Historical Museum is inviting artists to participate in its Ten-Squared online art exhibit and sale this summer. The theme for this non-juried exhibition is ‘At the Seaside’. Artists are allowed to submit up to three pieces of work\, each measuring 10” x 10”. The artwork will be sold for $100\, with half of the proceeds benefiting Southold Historical Museum and the remaining half going to the artist. Finished works are due with submission forms at the museum from June 2 to June 6\, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The museum is accepting all mediums and there is a limit of three submissions per artist. DESCRIPTION:Join the Southold Historical Museum on March 27\, 2025\, for an enlightening lecture titled Storms\, Shipwrecks\, Lifesavers & Lightkeepers: The History of the Fire Island Lighthouse. The lecture will be conducted by Angela Reich\, a docent at Fire Island Lighthouse and author of the novel Shipwreck of Hopes\, which was inspired by the 1850 wreck of the ship Elizabeth. This historical event played a crucial role in shaping the early Life Saving Service\, led by local residents who patrolled our shores and safeguarded maritime traffic along the nation’s busiest shipping lanes near New York Harbor. \nThe lecture is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. and will run until 2:30 p.m. It will be held at the Maple Lane Campus\, located at 55\,200 Main Road in Southold. Following the presentation\, there will be a book sale where attendees can purchase Reich’s novel for $20 cash only. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the book sale will be generously donated to the Southold Historical Museum. \nThe event is presented by the Southold Historical Museum\, the docents at the Nautical Museum at Horton Point Lighthouse\, and Fire Island Lighthouse. Admission is free\, making it a great opportunity for those interested in local history and maritime heritage.

DESCRIPTION:Southold Historical Museum is hosting an online art exhibition and sale titled ‘Ten Squared: After the Peconic Bay Impressionists’\, starting from Monday\, July 15\, until Aug. 31\, 2024. The non-juried exhibition invites artists to submit up to three pieces of artwork\, each measuring 10″ x 10″. All mediums are accepted. Each piece will be sold for $100\, with half of the proceeds going to the Southold Historical Museum. This exhibition is a tribute to the early painters of the East End such as Irving Ramsay Wiles\, Edith and Henry Prellwitz\, Caroline M. Bell\, Julia Wickham\, Whitney M. Hubbard\, and Otto Joseph Kurth. The exhibit will feature works from the 21st-century Peconic Bay Artists. This is a unique opportunity to purchase artwork by local artists and support the museum.
