The Long Island Mineral and Geological Society (LIMAGS) is hosting its 40th annual gem, mineral, jewelry, and fossil show on the last weekend in July. The event will be held at the air-conditioned Mattituck-Cutchogue Jr/Sr High School and will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, with the last entry at 4:30 p.m.
More than 30 dealers will be showcasing a variety of items including fine gemstones, jewelry, fossils, minerals, and meteorites. There will also be exhibits on Long Island geology, a scavenger hunt, geode cracking, metaphysicals, children’s activities, jewelry repair, and free geology samples.
Entrance to the event is $6 per person, or $5 with a flyer, postcard, or digital entry. A two-day pass is available for $8. Children under 12 are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.
The event is located in the heart of Long Island’s wine country, surrounded by more than 40 wineries along the north shore and numerous restaurants along Main Road (Rte. 25). Other nearby attractions include Tanger Outlets shopping, Atlantis Marine Aquarium, Splish Splash Water Park, Riverhead Raceway, destination farm stands, beaches, fishing, kayaking, and golf courses. The Rte. 58/25 commercial corridor and downtown Riverhead offer additional dining, shopping, and hotel facilities.
