America 250 concert: Transitions Saxophone Quartet

April 18, 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm

$1 – $5

Transitions Saxophone Quartet will present an America 250 concert, “The Evolution & Revolution of American Music,” combining live performance with narrative and multimedia.

The program traces how early American composers and performers first drew from European classical traditions and then developed distinct American sounds that helped shape later genres, including jazz, ragtime, swing, bebop, hip-hop, rock and roll, R&B and funk. The quartet will perform music associated with composers and artists including Billings, Gilmore, Joplin, Beach, Gershwin, Berlin, Copland, Bernstein, Charlie Parker, Neil Diamond, Glenn Miller, Elvis Presley, Taylor Swift and Stevie Wonder.

Transitions Saxophone Quartet features Bill Link on alto and soprano saxophone, Mike Rudnicki on alto saxophone, Jim Lasher on tenor saxophone, and Bill Leacock on baritone and bass saxophone. Registration is required by phone.
