Book and Bottle Lecture hosted by Suffolk County Historical Society Museum

The Suffolk County Historical Society will host a Book and Bottle Lecture featuring WPA Art and Artists: Long Island’s New Deal Legacy presented by Jim “Zak” Szakmary on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m.

The event will feature a slide show tour of the local Works Progress Administration inspired art and artists across Long Island. The administration led to the construction of roads, bridges and public buildings as well as murals, easel paintings, sculpture, graphic art, posters, photography, theater scenic design and arts and crafts.

The event will include light refreshments. For members of the historical society the event is free but for non-members it is $8. To reserve a spot, call (631)727-2881 ext. 100.
