The Butterfly Effect Project’s Butterfly Action Group has organized “A Celebration of Black Excellence” event to celebrate Black History Month on Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at The First Baptist Church of Riverhead — 1018 Northville Turnpike.
The event will feature a variety of soul food and explanations of the origins of each dish, trivia about current and historical Black heroes and performances from the Butterfly Effect Project’s dance team including historical and cultural significance of each dance style.
The youth-led action group aims to educate Butterfly Effect Project’s members and the local community about racial and social justice issues. The event seeks to celebrate the depth and richness and educate people about the history of Black culture.
