The Jamesport Meeting House is hosting its seasonal tradition, “Carols & Cookies” on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 4 p.m. The event will feature the Jamesport Meeting House Chorus, led by Marguerite Volonts, with Jeff Wentz on the piano.
The chorus will perform a seasonal concert and lead attendees in a sing-along of popular carols. After the concert, attendees will be treated to cookies and mulled cider in the Lecture Room.
This year’s concert selections are set to warm you with Yuletide greetings and thoughts of being home for the holidays with songs like ‘Homeward Bound’. The concert will also take attendees on a journey through holidays past with a pavane from 1520, and holidays present with Cher’s ‘DJ Play a Christmas Song’. Other performances include the mysterious and beautiful ‘Voice of Oceans’, a trip to the mountains and the stars, and even a Joni Mitchell song. The chorus finale will be the famous ‘Light One Candle’, composed by Peter Yarrow for the Peter, Paul, and Mary trio.
A suggested donation of $20 for adults is encouraged. This event is a perfect opportunity to set aside the chores and put down the wrapping paper for an unforgettable holiday get-together.
