Finding Art in Generational Trauma: A Conversation with Anne Sherwood Pundyk & Mary Hanlon at EEA Main Gallery

April 6, 2024, 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

Free

Join artist and writer Anne Sherwood Pundyk and filmmaker Mary Hanlon for a conversation titled ‘Finding Art in Generational Trauma’ at the EEA Main Gallery on April 6 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The discussion will explore how trauma impacts family behavior across generations and how it can shape creative expression.

Anne will trace the evolution of her artist’s book, ‘The Garden,’ which presents a series of emotionally evocative abstract images with stories centering on themes of abandonment and loss. Mary will show an excerpt of her recent film, ‘The Mirrored Road,’ and discuss how film explores the relationship between trauma and memory.

The event is part of the ‘Beauty Out of Bounds’ solo exhibition with Anne Sherwood Pundyk, running from March 23 to May 5, 2024, simultaneously in two galleries: EEA Art Gallery and 11 West Gallery.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Space is limited, so please reserve ahead. The event is free to attend.
