The Suffolk Theater in Riverhead is set to host a performance by Grammy-winning folk icon Judy Collins on Friday, July 12 at 8 p.m. Known for her sublime vocals and boldly vulnerable songwriting, Collins has been a beacon of the music industry for over five decades. Her repertoire includes a stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” and a sweetly intimate version of “Send in the Clowns,” a ballad written by Stephen Sondheim. The latter won ‘Song of the Year’ at the 1975 Grammy Awards.
Collins started her impressive music career at 13 as a piano prodigy and later became a key figure within the Greenwich Village folk community. She has remained a vital artist, enriching her catalog with critically acclaimed albums while balancing a robust touring schedule. Her recent works include a DVD special ‘Judy Collins: A Love Letter To Stephen Sondheim’ and a collaborative album ‘Silver Skies Blue’ with Ari Hest, which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album in 2017.
Tickets for the event range from $89 to $129, plus applicable fees, and can be purchased online at TheSuffolk.org. The Suffolk Theater is located at 118 East Main Street, Riverhead.
