Hallockville Museum Farm Speaker Series: Richard Wines Discusses His New Book

May 10, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Free

Hallockville Museum Farm is hosting a speaker series event featuring local historian Richard Wines. Wines will be discussing his new book, ‘A Farm Family on Long Island’s North Fork: The Lost World of the Hallocks and Their Sound Avenue Community.’ The talk will explore the history of the local agricultural community, tracing the journey of the last family to reside in the old homestead at Hallockville. The event will delve into the cultural wars that raged within the community, the changes it weathered over the centuries, and the stories of slavery, racism, prejudice, and scandal that many have chosen to forget. The event will also highlight stories of compassion and human tragedy. Admission to the talk is free, but advance registration is required. Copies of Wines’s book will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
