Indie Lens Pop-Up: “The Librarians” at Riverhead Free Library

Riverhead Free Library will screen the documentary “The Librarians” as part of Indie Lens Pop-Up programming in recognition of National Library Week.

The film follows librarians in Texas after state lawmakers seek to review a list of books, placing library staff on the front lines of a wider national debate over collection standards and restrictions on race-related and LGBTQIA+ content. The documentary also looks at the historical context of book challenges and the broader implications for education and public life.
