The Jamesport Meeting House is set to roll out its Live Music/Silent Film series this June. The first program, titled ‘Pioneering Women Directors 2.0’, will screen on Friday, June 14, at 7:30 p.m. The program will feature several works by French director, Alice Guy Blaché, the first female film director at the dawn of cinema in the late 19th century. From 1896 to 1906, Blaché was probably the only female filmmaker in the world. Her work laid the foundation for all who make films today.
The series is both curated and scored by The Aquebogue Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME) led by Cliff Baldwin. This unique combination of live music and silent film offers the community a new way to experience cinema. The series has been well received with audiences thrilled by the unique presentation.
Tickets are priced at $20 and can be purchased online at www.jamesportmeetinghouse.org, with remaining tickets available at the door. The evening will also include a wine and snacks reception afterwards. Mark your calendar for Friday, June 14, and enjoy an evening of classic and contemporary cinema in an historic atmosphere.
