Manticore, a tribute band to the iconic Emerson, Lake & Palmer, is set to perform at The Suffolk on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. Known for their raw energy and bombastic performances, Manticore recreates the classic ELP concert experience, reminiscent of the band’s early days in the 1970s. ELP, a supergroup renowned for their unique blend of classical pieces and rock and roll, injected synthesizers, distorted Hammond organ, and rock and roll percussion into the mix, creating a unique sound that has stood the test of time.
Manticore’s performance will be 100% live, with no backing tracks or pre-recorded assistance. The setlist includes many of ELP’s better-known pieces as well as rarities and deep tracks to keep hard-core fans engaged. The band, consisting of Rob Shepard, Ron Ponella, and John Cristando, aims to recreate the original studio-recording versions of classics such as “Lucky Man,” “Tarkus,” “Hoedown” and “Fanfare for the Common Man.”
The performance has been lauded by surviving ELP member, Carl Palmer, and called “absolutely fabulous” by Regina Lake, wife of the late singer and bassist, Greg Lake. The band presents ELP’s music as it’s best remembered – with precision, accuracy, and a stage show that will impress both new listeners and devoted fans. Tickets range from $39 to $49.
