Immerse yourself in the rich world of Native American art and storytelling at the Riverhead Free Library on Oct. 25, 2025. The library is hosting a unique workshop on Native American Zoomorphic Pinch Pots from 2 to 3 p.m.
Led by environmental artist and educator Tony Valderrama, participants will delve into the ancient tradition of pinch pots—one of the earliest forms of pottery. Learn how Native peoples used clay, symbols, and animal imagery to share their stories and beliefs.
The session begins with a cultural introduction, featuring traditional Native American artwork and the soothing sounds of the Native flute. Participants will then create their own zoomorphic (animal-shaped) pinch pot inspired by their favorite animal.
This workshop is perfect for all ages and abilities. It’s an opportunity to connect with nature, history, and your own imagination—one pinch at a time. The event is free to attend.
