North Fork Contemporary and CAST present the ‘New Views for Old Pews Auction’ on April 13, 2024. This unique event will see 16 enormous, 125-year-old church pews, which have outlived their usefulness, transformed into works of art by 13 talented artists. The transformed pews will be auctioned off at CAST’s Trieber Hall from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with Barry Bergdoll, professor of art history at Columbia University, serving as auctioneer. Proceeds from the auction will benefit CAST, North Fork Contemporary, and the participating artists.
The pews will be available for viewing at Trieber Hall on April 8 and 9 from noon to 4 p.m., and on April 10 and 12 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is a great opportunity to appreciate the artistic transformation of these historical pieces before they find new homes.
The event is free to attend and is sure to provide a unique and engaging experience for art lovers and history enthusiasts alike.
