NFAC Hosts ‘Daughters of Judah’ Discussion with Historians Jennifer L. Morgan and Donnamarie Barnes

The North Fork Arts Center is set to host a thought-provoking discussion titled ‘Daughters of Judah: A Multigenerational Story of Slavery and Freedom on the East End.’ The event will feature historians Jennifer L. Morgan and Donnamarie Barnes, who will be sharing their extensive expertise on the hidden narratives of African American families on Long Island.

Their collaboration in telling the story of The Daughters of Judah explores the generational impact of slavery and the enduring fight for freedom on Long Island. The discussion will shine a light on the remarkable stories of women who shaped the course of history.

Jennifer L. Morgan is an award-winning author, a 2024 MacArthur Fellow, and a professor at New York University. Donnamarie Barnes is the director of history and heritage at Sylvester Manor.

The event will be held on Feb. 22, 2025, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The cost of attendance is $15.
