North Fork Arts Center presents a special screening of the documentary ‘Match in a Haystack’ on Oct. 3 from 7 to 9 p.m. The film, directed by Emmy-award winning filmmaker Joe Hill, tells the story of Ukraine’s leading contemporary dance troupe as they grapple with the impact of war on their art. Filmed in bomb-damaged theaters and rehearsed amidst the sounds of air raids, the performance is a testament to the power of art and resilience.
After the screening, there will be a discussion with director Joe Hill, whose storytelling has earned him international acclaim and five Emmy Awards. The discussion will be moderated by Lynn Parkerson, founder and artistic director of Brooklyn Ballet.
Tickets for the event cost $25. Please note that due to the nature of the event, it may not be suitable for young children.
