The North Fork Arts Center invites you to a special evening featuring a reception, a powerful Sundance-selected film, and a community conversation. The evening on Sept. 25 begins with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by the screening of ‘Reinas’ at 7 p.m.
Set in Lima during the tumultuous summer of 1992, ‘Reinas’ is a visually rich film that tells the story of three women preparing to leave Peru amidst growing political and social unrest. The film explores themes of family, grief, and the complex emotions of departure, offering a poignant, fast-paced coming-of-age story about love, loss, and the uncertain promise of change. The evening continues after the film with a thoughtful discussion about its themes and resonance today. The event is not free, with a cost of $10. All proceeds will benefit OLA of Eastern Long Island, an organization that supports and uplifts the Latino community through arts, advocacy, and access.
