The Peconic River Sportsman’s Club is all set to host its 11th Annual ‘Take a Shot at Cancer’ fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 7. The event, which has been a popular fixture for the last decade, has raised over $300,000 for the benefit of local cancer organizations.
The day begins with an opening ceremony at 8 a.m., followed by squadding at 8:15 a.m. The shoot starts at 9 a.m. The entry fee of $225 covers 100 sporting clays and 100 12-gauge shells, but participants are required to bring their own shotguns. The club also provides a light breakfast, snacks, and a steak and chicken BBQ lunch followed by dessert. Non-shooters can enjoy lunch for $30.
A limited number of four-seat golf carts can be rented for $100 each. The day’s activities also include auctions, raffles and a 50/50 drawing. Last year, the club donated a total of $54,000 to three local breast cancer charities: Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition, Lucia’s Angels and North Fork Breast Health Coalition.
Registration and payment can be made on www.ScoreChaser.com. Checks are traditionally distributed during a December holiday party at the historic PRSC clubhouse. This event is open to the public.
