“Rebels and Redcoats” Long Island history hunt challenge at Southold Historical Museum

Southold Historical Museum’s Maple Lane Campus is a stop on the 2026 Long Island History Hunt, a region-wide Revolutionary War challenge running May 23 to Sept. 30.

Visitors can stop by the Maple Lane Campus and learn about the role Jared Landon played in Southold during the British occupation. To complete the challenge at this location, participants are asked to take a selfie by the red museum sign and upload it.

The Long Island History Hunt includes 26 historic sites across Long Island, with prizes including a $1,776 grand prize, plus museum memberships and merchandise. Challenges are outdoors and can be completed anytime. Participants can also pick up free collectible Revolutionary-themed trading cards at each location visited.
