North Fork Arts Center will host a six-week playwriting workshop led by playwright and composer Gail Kriegel. Writers are invited to bring outlines, drafts or completed works for a play or musical to share and develop in a supportive, peer-to-peer setting.
Participants will workshop material through guided feedback and discussion focused on what works on stage and what needs revision. Topics include structure, character development, dialogue, stage directions, pacing, beats, subtext and the role of the playwright in production.
Kriegel’s work includes the Off-Broadway play “Cracked Open,” a finalist for the 2025 BroadwayWorld award for best drama, and the musical “Sweete,” which ran Off-Broadway at Signature Theatre and received an Audelco award. She was also a collaborator on the docudrama “Seven,” translated into 35 languages and performed internationally, and her play “On the Home Front” has been produced in regional theaters and was selected for the archives at Lincoln Center.
