Join Hallockville Museum Farm for a unique and hands-on ‘Stirring Up History’ soap making workshop on Oct. 2, 2025. The workshop will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. and is a part of the farm’s fall activities. Participants will learn about the traditional soap making process from historic cook Diane Schwindt, including the use of a lard press and a traditional mangling board. Attendees will also get to experience the weight and warmth of a heavy sad (flat) iron.
The workshop is not just about soap making. Participants will also enjoy a small bowl of beef stew served with hearty bread, replicating the meals that would have been served on the farm generations ago.
The cost to attend the workshop is $40 for members and $45 for non-members. Tickets can be purchased on the Hallockville Museum Farm website. Please note that the workshop is not free to attend.
