The Horton Point Nautical Museum is hosting a captivating lecture titled ‘History of the Holland Submarine’ by Ray Nofi on Saturday, Aug. 5. This lecture is part of the Summer Lighthouse Lecture Series and will take place at the beautiful grounds of the Horton Point Lighthouse overlooking the Sound. Mr. Nofi, chair of the Lighthouse Committee, will discuss the history of this famous submarine tested in the waters off New Suffolk.
The lecture starts at 2 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and can bring a lunch to eat at the picnic tables beforehand. The lighthouse museum, with exhibits on bootlegging, whaling and maritime history, will be open for exploration, as will the viewing tower.
The lecture is free to attend. However, there is a $5 per car parking fee for non-residents. The rain date for this event is Aug. 6. For more information, visit the Southold Historical Museum’s website.
