Join Tony Valderrama at the Riverhead Free Library for an interactive session titled ‘Talking Sticks’. This event is an exploration of the symbolic object of respect used in group settings to share ideas and stories. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own talking sticks using North Fork driftwood, beads, feathers, and pigment. A display of Native American art and musical instruments will be available for inspiration. At the end of the session, students can hold up their talking sticks to share words of appreciation and ways to help our Mother Earth. This event is free to attend.
