Town of Riverhead STOP Day

The Town of Riverhead’s annual spring STOP Day will take place on Saturday, May 4 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Riverhead Town Highway Department headquarters, 1177 Osborn Avenue, Riverhead.

Riverhead Town residents are invited to dispose of household chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, electronic wastes, medications and other items to the highway department on May 4 for free, safe disposal.

The purpose of the STOP program is to prevent household hazardous wastes from being landfilled or incinerated, which can cause groundwater and air pollution.

The medication take-back event during STOP Day is organized by the Rivereadh Community Coalition for Safe and Drug-Free Youth.

The second STOP Day this year will take place on Oct. 26.
