The trillions of bacteria, viruses and fungi that live in the intestinal tract (i.e. the gut microbiome) have an effect on one’s overall feeling of health and well-being. Metabolism, appetite, and the inflammation that can occur in various bodily systems can all be influenced by what is going on in the gut. Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Director of Clinical Nutrition, Paula Montagna, RD, MS, CDN, CNSC will discuss how and what you eat boosts your gut health and positively impacts the immune system, affects weight, blood sugar, cholesterol, and possibly even mental health.
This free event will take place via Zoom on Nov. 16 from 12. noon to 1 p.m.
This is a Long Island Library Programmer’s Association Program hosted by Mattituck-Laurel Library and sponsored by Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.
