Book & Bottle lecture: Long Island women in the Revolution

March 7, 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

$8

The Suffolk County Historical Society will host a Book & Bottle lecture for Women’s History Month with historian Natalie A. Naylor, focusing on the experiences and roles of Long Island women during the American Revolution.

The talk will examine why women are often absent from accounts of the Revolutionary War on Long Island, despite more than seven years of British occupation, skirmishes and daily hardships. Using a PowerPoint presentation, Naylor will discuss what life was like for women during the war and how they coped, highlighting lesser-known stories from the period.

Light refreshments will be served. Registration and advance prepayment are required.
