Step back in time and experience the world of Jane Austen with a Regency-era dance lesson at the Mattituck-Laurel Library. Led by historical dance expert Gene Murrow, attendees will learn English Country Dances that were popular during Austen’s time. No prior experience or partner is required, making it a perfect opportunity for both devoted Austen fans and anyone who simply loves to dance.
In between dances, participants will enjoy delightful excerpts about dancing from Austen’s novels, read aloud by the instructor. This adds a unique literary twist to the event, immersing attendees in Austen’s world.
Light refreshments will be served, providing a chance to socialize and relax between dances.
The event is free to attend, but registration is required. Interested participants can register at the Mattituck-Laurel Library’s website.
