“Dimensional Stratagems” paintings by James Pritchard (reception at Mattituck-Laurel Library)

Mattituck-Laurel Library will host “Dimensional Stratagems,” an art show of acrylic paintings on wood by James Pritchard, on view July 1 to July 31 in the library’s art gallery.

The artist uses traditional painting techniques including color, tone, value and perspective to create the illusion of three-dimensional objects on flat surfaces. The works balance hard-edge panel lines with hand-painted textures and patterns, and draw on color influences from Pritchard’s childhood in California and the Caribbean, along with the seasonal palette of the North Fork.

A public reception will be held Friday, July 3, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the library’s art gallery.
